Top 3 Favorite Minneapolis Restaurants

One thing we think Minnesota is doing right - FOOD! There are some great restaurants in the Twin Cities, and one of our favorite things to do is explore and try the vast restaurant options available. One of the things we love about the food scene in Minneapolis is the wide range of restaurant cultures, genres, and ambiances to choose from. From the best burgers to the bright and bold flavors found from showcasing food from nearly every part of the world, Minneapolis has something for everyone. It is SO hard to pick out of all the places we love, but below, you will find our (current) 3 favorite sit-down restaurants in Minneapolis that we revisit frequently.

#1 Colita

If you're looking for quaint and trendy with a Latin flare and unique drink choices, you must try Colita. Colita’s Chef, Daniel del Prado, is well known and on a terror in this city and for this one he chose flavors from Oaxaca Mexico. It is located in South Minneapolis tucked away in the Armtage neighborhood. What once was an old gas station now stands as a romantic modernized restaurant. Some of our favorite dishes by the award-winning chef are: corn elote (pro move: ask for masa chips for dipping), beef tartare, tlayuda, aquachile, tempura fried shrimp tacos, and you CANNOT FORGET to order the churros for dessert - in our top two desserts of all-time, anywhere! The menu offers a wide variety of small plates, such as seafood dishes, a wide variety of vegetables, and smoked meats, and is also known for being gluten-free. It can be hard to get into, so we recommend booking a reservation a month or two in advance or be like us and go at 4:45-5:15 hour! For more information, visit their website: Colita

Parlour Bar

Parlour Bar is a no-reservation basement cocktail bar serving amazing cocktails and arguably the BEST burger in the city. But, let’s not argue, it IS the best burger in the city ;) They are so good that they have two locations! They are located in Minneapolis' North Loop and St. Paul's West 7th near the Xcel Energy Center. We love the moody lounge vibe and the simple classic menu because we usually go here for one thing: the burger, a side of fries, and don’t forget to try their old fashioned and the (true) whiskey sour with egg white. Their cocktail game is on point and serves many of the classics as well as the bartender-hipster classics you may never have heard of but are among the underground classics. If you are heading to the Minneapolis location, they offer valet parking, which can come in handy on the busy North Loop nights. For more information, visit their website: Parlour Bar

#3

Petite Leon

Petite Leon is a constantly changing Latin-inspired restaurant on Nicollet Ave in the Kingfield neighborhood. Every time we visit, we fall in love with something new on the menu. The atmosphere provides a cozy, gothic, dimmed romantic vibe. Award-winning Chef George Guzmán includes sustainable, amazing local ingredients and layers of flavor. His take on Mexican food is unique with rustic and bright flavors. Also, don’t forget their burger - it’s a top 5 in the city. You can’t go wrong with any of their tasty, creative cocktails either. Visit their menu here: Petite Leon.

Every month, we hear of something exciting and new popping up around the Twin Cities, which makes our foodie hearts happy so we can explore and enjoy good company and laughs over good food. We would love to know some of your local favorites so we can add them to our running list!
