From House Flipping to Full-Time Real Estate Agents: Our Journey to Building a Career we Love

If there is one thing in Real Estate that I have a really hard time with, it's self-promotion. Maybe I'm old fashioned...or just old (Adam speaking here). I too have utilized social media, but I am not always comfortable with its purpose or intent, but that’s me.

So why this post? Well, I realize that in my role, I still need to make people aware of how I can help them. My discomfort with self promotion just makes it more difficult for me.

A couple friends of mine asked, "Are you still flipping houses?" I realized I need to use this media platform to inform people how I may possibly be of service.

I've actually been a licensed Realtor for over a year. I've been buying, selling, renovating, managing contractors, and negotiating real estate decisions since 2015. YES, I still am investing in real estate through flips and longer term rentals, but I am not going to deviate from my financial principles of investing in "good" deals. I don’t gamble. I invest. And, part of that means not “chasing” deals which has been a common theme in 2020 and 2021. The numbers have to work for me. That is crucial to the success of my clients and thus the success of our business.

What I realized last year is that the Realtor business is getting a bit crowded with people that may not always have all the tools in their toolbox to orchestrate the full package of services that we offer. And so, I entered. It is imperative that Realtors have an understanding of construction, return-on-investment, banking and financial strategies, as well as the growth/wealth opportunities through real estate. As an investor in this space, I am passionate about using all the tools that I have developed for my buyers’ and sellers’ success. And that is what I have (mostly) been up to this past year in the great Twin Cities.

So, here is my attempt at a "making friends aware" post: Brit and I are happy to be your Realtors… Adam & Brit Homes brings value because of our investing and construction knowledge. This can mean thousands of dollars saved or earned through agents who have proven experience and thus competency in both construction and negotiation. In this competitive seller’s market, where we are seeing homes sell with no inspections and well over asking price, I cannot tell you how important our knowledge base is to the protection of one of your greatest assets. Even if it isn’t a “fixer-upper,” all those tools still matter for negotiation and return-on-investment.

As a recent example, 3 different HVAC contractors told one of my clients that their furnace needed to be replaced for over $10,000. I knew that didn’t seem right. I was able to recommend the contractors I’ve vetted that were shocked to hear what these other companies had recommended. Turns out it was less than a $1,000 fix and the expected life of the furnace is still over 10-15 years. This was a $10,000 “savings” because I knew better. I know the contractor space and how to save you thousands.

So with that, we'd love the opportunity to help earn your trust! Sometimes Realtors can be “noisy” and that is not our goal. Our goal is to answer all your questions truthfully: “Can you trust us?,” “Are we competent?,” “Will you like working with us?” We strive to answer those with an emphatic YES! Our goal is to answer all your questions honestly and to put you first - not just say we do.

Send us a message or give us a call if you feel we can be of service in helping you as your Realtor team.
