Laundry Room Renovation
If I had to pick one thing that I find myself doing every day in our home, it would be laundry! Endless amounts of laundry.
Before & After
When we purchased this home the laundry was originally located in the unfinished basement. The old laundry room was not a space I could imagine myself spending time in every day. Plus, have you ever had tried dragging a bin of laundry down the stairs with babies hanging from your legs?! Not ideal!
I knew we had to find a way to relocate the laundry onto the main level. We are all about functionality, and with the three bedrooms being on the main floor it only made sense to relocate the laundry!
Often times we are taking down walls in renovations, but this was the first time we actually put up a wall to separate the old mudroom that originally opened to the dining. This laundry room/mudroom is located off of the garage, and it never made sense to me why someone would put carpet in a high traffic area in a space like this.
We have had days where this room is actually full of mud from playing outside with the kids. The smart thing to do is add tile vs carpet so it can easily be wiped up. The only items original to this room today are the windows, trim, and the amazing wood faux beam that I absolutely love!
The following list below contains the items we had professionally done by a contractor to make our laundry room dreams come true.
Removed carpet & added tile.
Added framing and drywall to place laundry against the wall.
New light fixture.
Custom-made boot bench below windows.
Custom-made wood waterfall edge and top for washer & dryer.
New Samsung washer & dryer.
Venting
Plumbing for washer.
Sherwin Williams Paint - Alabaster
Cabinets above washer & dryer.
Target decor:)
Laundry rooms don’t have to be complicated. Keep it simple and functional as it makes the daily grind a little easier one pile of clothes at a time:)
